Sofia Chang
Executive Vice President, Worldwide Digital Distribution & Home Entertainment, Home Box Office, Inc.

Sofia Chang is executive vice president, Worldwide Digital Distribution and Home Entertainment of Home Box Office, Inc. In the role of Home Entertainment, she oversees the digital and physical transactional businesses globally. This includes the development, distribution and marketing of an extensive slate of HBO and Cinemax releases. With offices in New York, London and Toronto, the company’s titles are distributed in more than 60 countries around the globe. In addition to overseeing Home Entertainment, Chang is also responsible for all digital distribution, including HBO NOW, which launched in 2015 and is distributed across multiple platforms including Apple, Amazon, Google, Roku, Xbox and more. She was named to this position in June 2015.
Chang joined HBO in 2000 in the Home Entertainment division, ascending to the positions of vice president, Marketing, and senior vice president, Marketing and Creative Services. In 2008, Chang was named senior vice president, Consumer Marketing, Retail Products, responsible for overseeing HBO’s licensing business. In this role, she led the expansion of HBO’s licensed products worldwide into Europe, South America and Asia and the development of merchandise across many franchises.

In March 2012, she moved to the Programming Strategy & Planning area as senior vice president, where she oversaw program strategy, audience research and promotion planning and scheduling for HBO and Cinemax.

Prior to her work at HBO, Chang worked in consumer advertising in San Francisco and in New York City.

She is on the board of the Time Warner Foundation and serves as chief financial officer on the DEG (Digital Entertainment Group) board. She was named CUP (Council of Urban Professionals) Catalyst in 2014.

Chang holds a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
